Robert

Robert has been employed at Packer Fastener since 2016. Before joining the company, he participated in Project SEARCH, a program that helped him develop valuable employability skills and gain experience to strengthen his resume. He started at Packer Fastener in a part-time role, working about 20 hours per week. After a few years, the operations manager recognized Robert’s strong work ethic and dedication, and offered him a full-time position. Robert was excited to accept the offer and has been working full-time for the past five years. One of Robert’s favorite tasks at work is kitting, as it allows him to become more familiar with the layout of the aisles and inventory. He takes pride in knowing where everything is located and enjoys gaining deeper knowledge of the products. Working at Packer Fastener has given Robert a sense of pride and belonging within his community, and he finds his work both rewarding and fulfilling. He values the relationships he has built with his coworkers and enjoys interacting with them daily. Robert’s mother, Kim, shared, ” I am thankful for the opportunity for Robert to have interactions in the community and for a company that appreciates his skill set, and his hard work and is supportive of him as a person.” When asked if he had any advice for others who might be hesitant about working in the community, Robert encouraged them by saying, “You’ll like it, don’t be scared! Just try it, you can do it!” He is a strong self-advocate at work and encourages others to speak up for themselves as well. Robert believes that working is important because it provides financial independence, keeps him busy, and offers the chance to connect with others. Lakeland Care is proud to support Robert in reaching his goals. His determination, creativity, and advocacy for others inspire us. Robert is a great example of the positive impact of our work, and we remain committed to empowering individuals like him.
