Kathleen

Since joining Lakeland Care, Inc. (LCI) in July 2015, Kathleen has focused on her goal of remaining in the comfort of her own home. Today, she continues to enjoy life in Green Bay with her dogs and birds, receiving support from her significant other and Jean, her Self-Directed Supports (SDS) caregiver and friend of over 25 years.
Both Kathleen and Jean are happy and appreciate the flexibility Lakeland Care’s SDS program provides. Known for her strong will, Kathleen says, “I’ve always been strong-willed,” and isn’t afraid to say no to things she doesn’t want to do. The two enjoy spending time together, whether shopping or getting ice cream, and their schedule can easily be adjusted to fit Kathleen’s needs. SDS gives them peace of mind, ensuring Kathleen is safe and well cared for before Jean heads home each day.
As Kathleen navigates the challenges of cognitive decline, coping with changes in routine or new caregivers has become more difficult. However, Lakeland Care’s SDS program provides her with the stability and familiarity she needs to feel at ease. She continues to stay empowered, making decisions about who comes into her home and when. Her Care Manager shared that the SDS program has been a true blessing in supporting Kathleen’s goal of staying safe, comfortable, and in control of her life at home.
Lakeland Care has been honored to serve Kathleen and partner with her in meeting her goals and outcomes over the years. Lakeland Care remains dedicated to empowering individuals like Kathleen. Together, we can build better lives!
